The History

The Owyhee originate into the Boise Idaho market as a hotel. Back then, as a hotel, it boasted well-appointed amenities and one of the most popular was the rooftop garden. It included a restaurant, dance floor, bar and sometimes, a live band. It became a hotspot until 1940. The hotel’s top three floors were bought by the Ore-Ida company in the 1960s to be used as corporate headquarters. The current hotel owner bought the property in 1992. Before owning the hotel, he used to work there.

Now, it has become a multi-purpose building, provided a diversified landscape for businesses and services. Regardless, of its purpose, there has always been the source of spooky legends since its inception.

The Hauntings

Some of the ghostly activities experience her are cleaning supplies getting replaced, voices, materials disappearing, and reappearing the next day are just a few things. For a hundred years, rumors within local folks reveal a spirit that targets hauntings in the hotel's meeting rooms and Room 136. Unfortunately, the plaza's most recent renovation into a series of office spaces, rented apartments, and conference rooms make pinpointing the continued haunts problematic.

How to best catch a phantom here? Consider renting a loft in the building. But you might just see something spooky dining at the in-house, the Owyhee Tavern Restaurant, which has on its own many tales of haunts.
