Originally known as Carburs Restaurant that opened in 1977 on the first floor of the Thompson Block that was built after the Great Fire of 1866. The building has had a variety of tennants in its four stories. In 2005 American Flatbread moved into this location.
Come to American Flatbread, and you just might encounter the spirit of a former employee who is said to inhabit the restaurant. Formerly known as Carburs Restaurant, this worker is said to have shot himself in the head down in the basement, leaving the bullet lodged in the wall there. The ghostly activity doesn’t stop there. Female employees have been trapped in the basement freezer when the door slams shut. Up in the main restaurant area, reports of sudden temperature drops as well as glasses shattering and plates flying off counters have been common.
