Barney's Beanery in West Hollywood is an iconic nightspot on Route 66. It moved to this spot from its original location in 1927. Throughout the years, several famous people have frequented the restaurant, such as Clark Gable, Errol Flynn, Bette Davis, Hoot Gibson and Rita Hayworth. It is said that James Dean ate dinner here the night before his tragic accident. Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison were familiar customers.
Staff has been interviewed and more than one says a strange figure often passes by the rooftop office. Others say they have felt as though something touched them, and that there is something messing with the downstairs cooler. There is a spirit they call "The Man in Black" who stands by the ladies' restroom.
