New Orleans, LA is home to one of the most haunted places in the state, Creole Gardens. Come Explore its mystery with Haunted Journeys.
Reverend Benjamin Palmer, a dedicated supporter of the Confederate Army, had this property built for him in the 1840s. Porter was a personal friend of Confederate President Jefferson Davis and lived in this house during the Civil War until the end of his life. In 1902 he died upon being struck by a streetcar.
While the property was being renovated into an inn, it appears the spirits did not like the change. One time a 400-pound door slammed for no apparent reason. If this was not chilling enough, bathroom tiles that had been neatly stacked were found scattered about the floor.
One guest reported a clear image of a former slave standing in the corner of the room with arms folded, apparently awaiting orders. Another guest said they saw a man visiting at night, speaking softly. Others have witnessed shadow people gliding past them. All have the creepy sense of being watched. Housekeepers report a feeling of someone watching them, and dark, flitting blurs.
