Little Rock AR is home to one of the most haunted places in the state, Capital Hotel. Come explore its mystery with Haunted Journeys.
It was originally built to house offices, shops, and gentlemen’s apartments for businessmen. It became a hotel in 1877 after the Metropolitan Hotel, the city’s only upscale hotel, burned in December 1876.
Over the next 100 years, the hotel changed hands several times. It was closed, renovated and reopened in 1908. For years, the hotel was a center of political activities and social events. During the 1960s and 1970s, the downtown area declined, and the Capital Hotel fell into disrepair. In the early 1980s, a new owner began the work of restoring the hotel to its original grandeur and it reopened in 1983. In 2005 another restoration project closed the hotel for two years, but when it opened for business again, it became known as a modern luxury hotel with rare historic character.
There is a spirit of a laborer who keeps to himself and a ghost of a young woman who fell to her death from one of the upper floors. She appears in guest rooms or moves luggage around. People have reported hearing screams and wails throughout the building.
