Warsaw, Indiana is home to one of the most haunted places in the state, The Barbee Hotel and Grill. Come Explore its mystery with Haunted Journeys.
The original Hotel Ormond was established in 1897. The name was later changed to The Barbee Hotel as a tribute to the lakes where it is located. In the early days, The Barbee Hotel was a growing resort managed by the Vanhoosen family. During this time, it wasn't uncommon to see limousines populate the hotel parking lot. It also was not unusual during the roaring '20s, for the Barbee Hotel to serve as a popular hangout for mobsters from Chicago.
One of the mobsters said to haunt the Barbee is Scarface, also known as Al Capone. The paranormal experiences are so well known that SyFy's Ghost Hunters paid a visit to find out for themselves.
The Barbee Hotel and Saloon was also featured on Dead Files in 2014 and they were able to help the hotel's owner who claims that his business is hurting as a result of the phantom activity. Steve's research into the hotel's history reveals that in the 1800s, the land that the hotel was built upon, was the site of a brutal double homicide. Amy discovers entities within the hotel. The most prominent spirit Amy encounters is of a woman who was the sole survivor of a brutal attack against her family. During the show, Amy also ran into a male ghost who is aggressive towards the living.
