Searsport, ME is home to one of the most haunted places the world, 1794 Watchtide By The Sea Bed and Breakfast Come explore its mystery with Haunted Journeys.

The History

Although the exact date that the property known as the 1794 Watchtide by the Sea Bed and Breakfast was built remains unknown, it is documented that the Ownership of the property was transferred to Brigadier General Henry Knox (of Fort Knox fame) in 1794. General Knox sold the property and it changed hands many more times. In 1917 the property owner's daughter Frances and three roommates from Wellesley College opened a teahouse at the property. They initially named it the College Teahouse, but it later evolved into the College Club Bed and Breakfast.

It flourished as one of the most popular stopping-off places on the Maine coast until after the beginning of World War II when the United States restricted travel. The bed and breakfast then closed its doors and it became a private home once again. In 1994, it was converted back to a bed and breakfast, named the Watchtide by the Sea.

In 2006, it was sold to the current owners.

The Hauntings

Guests and at least one previous Bed and Breakfast owner have reported seeing phantoms in a very early dress floating around the property. There are even reports of music being played, but people are unable to locate the source. They have told of hearing disembodied footsteps in the hallway.
