Kennebunkport, ME is home to one of the most haunted places the state, Captain Fairfield Inn. Come explore its mystery with Haunted Journeys.
Born in Maine, James Fairfield was the son of a sea captain and when he grew older, he followed in his father's footsteps. The Captain Fairfield Inn was built in 1813 on property Captain James Fairfield and his wife received as a wedding present. Captain Fairfield invited his brother-in-law, Joseph Lord, also a sea captain and his sister Polly Lord to share the home with them. The Captain Fairfield Inn has been operating as a bed & breakfast for 30 years.
During the restoration, an apparition of Captain Fairfield was spotted in the basement, standing in a dark corner. Since that time, he has been seen numerous times by guests of this bed and breakfast. Those who haven't seen him have reported feeling his presence in their rooms or other areas of the house. He seems to be friendly. He isn't known for playing pranks or for intentionally trying to scare anyone. Instead, he merely stands back and watches the many guests who stay there.
