History

New Orleans, LA is home to one of the most haunted places in the state, Audubon Cottages.  Come Explore its mystery with Haunted Journeys.

The History

The historic Audubon Cottages were built shortly after two great fires destroyed most of the city in the late eighteenth century. The property is named honoring the naturalist and painter John James Audubon. Cottage One was home to Audubon while completing his Birds of America series from 1821-22.

The Audubon Cottages are a collection of seven charming and private cottages that surround what is believed to be the oldest pool in the French Quarter.

The Hauntings

Each cottage has its own unique story, including haunted histories for Cottages Two and Four. There have been stories about a country music-loving Confederate soldier in Cottage Four. Here, you might hear some country music being played in the courtyard.
