The History

Built in 1820, Poinsett Bridge is the oldest surviving span in South Carolina. The bridge was once part of a road that connected Charleston and Columbia to the mountain communities of North Carolina. The 200-year-old bridge is located in Landrum, South Carolina. People not only come to this beautiful spot to enjoy the surroundings but to catch a glimpse of the paranormal activity there.

The Hauntings

One story claims a lynched slave haunts the span, while another says it's due to Native Americans and lost burial grounds. Another legend claims a mason died during the bridge's construction and is now entombed inside. People have seen unexplained red and white lights near the bridge and other reports include unexplained screams, eerie moans, malfunctioning equipment, and cars that won't start after a visit.
