The History

The Riddle House, a proud historic Edwardian house, today sits in Yesteryear Village moved there (from its original site) in 1995. Originally, the house was built in 1905 as a funeral parlor on the property of the Woodlawn Cemetery in Palm Beach County, Florida. Constructed by some of the construction workers of the famed Flagler Hotel, it was known as the "Gatekeeper's Cottage" It also served as the home to the groundskeeper of the cemetery. In 1920, the city manager and superintendent of West Palm Beach, Karl Riddle, moved into the property. This is where the namesake originated.

The Hauntings

There are many legends that speak to the haunted activity at the Riddle House. One of the most popular involved "Buck" who was said to work at the nearby Woodlawn Cemetery. Apparently, Buck's life came to an end after an argument gone bad. People have witnessed seeing Buck's spirit wandering the grounds and the Riddle House's porch. It is said that this was Buck's favorite place to take breaks and eat his meals when he was earthbound. Buck's spirit is said to be amicable, with no anger or vengeance in his spirit.

It is also haunted by one of their employees (Joseph) who hung himself in the attic. There are many other stories that repeat the history within these walls. For this reason, the building was featured in an episode of Ghost Adventures in 2008.

The property was featured on 2018 and 2019 World's Largest Ghost Hunt (http://www.nationalghosthuntingday.com/)
