Tacoma WA is home to one of the most haunted places in the state, Point Defiance Park. Come explore its mystery with Haunted Journeys.
Point Defiance Park started as a military reservation in the 1840s. In 1888, President Cleveland authorized its use as a public park. By 1890, streetcars brought visitors to the park. A seaside resort offered heated saltwater bathing in a pavilion called the Nereides Baths located on a bluff in the park starting in 1907.
The activity at Point Defiance Park is thought to be caused by the spirit of a fourteen-year-old girl who went missing in 1986. Her body was discovered off the main road. It is said that her ghost comes out at night and stands on the side of the road. There have also been reports of an apparition of a man. According to legend, he committed suicide after his wife drowned in the lake.
