Wilder KY is home to one of the most haunted places in the state, Bobby Mackey's Music World. Come explore its mystery with Haunted Journeys.
Bobby Mackey's Music World opened in 1978 before that the site was thought to be used as a slaughterhouse that closed in 1890. Legends claim Bryan's murderers were Satanists who cursed the location and vowed to haunt everyone involved in prosecuting the case. In 1896, two men were convicted for murdering and dismembering a young woman after a sensational murder trial. The two men were hanged and the head of the victim, Pearl Bryan, was never found.
After prohibition ended "Buck" Brady, a truck driver who had worked for Cincinnati bootleg king George Remus, purchased the building. It was called the Blue Grass Inn then renamed the Primrose Club and operated as a tavern and gambling establishment. Brady decided to take on the Cleveland mob, who were trying to take over his Club and in 1946, he shot Red Masterson, the syndicate's manager of the Merchant's Club. Red survived and Brady was arrested. The charges were dismissed and the mob then gave Brady two choices: leave town or die. Brady retired to Florida, and the syndicate took over the Club renamed it to the Latin Quarter.
Several businesses were in the locations after the Latin Quarter closed until Bobby Mackey's Music World opened.
Various legends and modern folklore claim that the site features a "gateway to hell" and is haunted by spirits, including Pearl Bryant. One legend claims that a pregnant dancer named "Johanna" committed suicide in the 1940s after her father murdered her lover Robert Randall, a singer at the Club. Investigations have failed to find records of any such events and research has been unable to substantiate claims made regarding the history of the location. So no one knows the reason why there is so much paranormal activity here.
There are claims that people have been attacked by unseen forces that threw them across the room. Employees and visitors have reported experiences with shadow people, mists, disembodied voices, balls of light, intense feelings of other beings present. There is a dark entity said to be present that is particularly dangerous to women.
Bobby Mackey's Music World has been featured on T.V. shows such as Ghost Hunters, Ghost Adventures, Most Terrifying Places in America, My Ghost Story, Paranormal Lockdown, Portals to Hell, My Haunted Story and A Haunting.
