Miami, FL is home to one of the most haunted places in the state, Pinewood Cemetery. Come explore its mystery with Haunted Journeys.

The History

The Pinewood Cemetery, also known as Cocoplum Cemetery, is the oldest south of the Miami River in southeast Florida. It is the final resting place of the State's pioneers that once lived in Dade County. After falling victim to neglect and vandalism, recent efforts to restore it have resurfaced more than just it's headstones.

The Hauntings

Locals see shadowy figures in the cemetery at night. On windy days it is said you can hear whispers emanating from the gravesites.

Apparitions of a ghost woman and even a headless ghost have been reported.

Nearby residents have reported seeing midnight burials, hearing strange noises, and an all-around odd feeling when near the cemetery. Many believe that the phantom apparitions are said to be the pioneers of the county.

It is reported that a figure of a young man dressed in jeans and a white, striped polo shirt has been seen standing near a tree.

Rumor has it there is a girl who appears to be a bit rebellious. She was a victim of her boyfriend's rage, who buried her alive in the cemetery. Many feel she is one of the strongest presence there.
