Essex is home to one of the most haunted places in England, RAF Rivenhall Airfield. Come explore its mystery with Haunted Journeys.
RAF Rivenhall is a former World War II airfield in Essex, England, near Braintree. It opened in 1942 and was used by both the Royal Air Force and United States Army Air Forces. It was primarily as a combat airfield with various fighter and bomber units. It was closed in 1946 and kept in reserve until 1956. Currently, a group is trying to save this piece of WWII history and turn it into a museum.
Are these airfields active because many aircrews died on these airfields from enemy attack or injury?
