Gettysburg, PA is home to one of the most haunted places in the state, Gettysburg Engine House. Come Explore its mystery with Haunted Journeys.

The History

Also known as the Gettysburg and Northern Railroad or sometimes the Pioneer Lines Engine House, the Gettysburg Engine has the history behind it to back up its's haunts! Although the property is a relatively modern structure, yet it sits on the hallowed haunted ground of the first day’s battle at Gettysburg. It was here that the Union soldiers made a desperate stand against charging Confederates on July 1, 1863. Confederate dead were haphazardly buried around the scene of the battle by local laborers. The large, metal Engine House was built in 1991, long after the battle of Gettysburg, but it was constructed on the hallowed ground where men died and are likely still buried. Did the construction stir up paranormal activity?

The Hauntings

The Ghost Trains run almost as often as the Scenic Train, and they are also an hour and 15 minutes long. Guides from the Ghosts of Gettysburg Tours tell their eerie tales as you venture into the haunted countryside around Gettysburg, including the Railroad Cut, Oak Ride, and Iverson’s Pits. Later on, it will pull into the haunted Engine House, where you hear the voices of the dead captured on tape. No wonder the Engine House and the Ghost Trains have been featured on the Travel Channel’s Mysterious Journeys series.
