Eureka, NV is home to one of the most haunted places in the state, Eureka Opera House. Come explore its mystery with Haunted Journeys.
The Opera House was built in the 1880s when the town had about 3000 residents. It was built on the site of the Odd Fellows Hall that burnt in 1879. This new building was the center of life for many decades to come. Eureka was on the tour circuit for the opera and theatre performances. It included a movie theatre that lasted until 1958. Eureka Company restored it in 1993.
It is said that a woman in white can be seen in the upper balcony, and children can been seen on the stage. "Morman Joe" Barker is said to have died by fire on the property, which could account for the apparition of a male spirit found lurking in its basement.
Eureka Nevada was featured in an episode of Ghost Adventures.
